Best Gesha Coffee

The latest Gesha and Geisha variety coffees from specialty roasters. The priciest variety in specialty, and usually worth it.

Last updated: August 3, 202632 coffees evaluated6 recommended

Gesha gained fame through Panama's Hacienda La Esmeralda and now commands the highest auction prices in specialty coffee. The variety originally comes from western Ethiopia, but it's grown across Central and South America too. What makes it worth the price: an almost jasmine-like floral character and a tea-like body that really is unlike anything else.

Buying advice

Expect $30–80+ per bag. Brew it as pour-over to get the most out of the aromatics. If it's your first Gesha, a washed lot from Panama or Ethiopia will give you the clearest read on what the variety does.
